/me taps the Mic "Is this on?"

Hello. Long time no post. Might start again. I have a Twitter account, too. Facebook is beyond me, though. To think, I once used ARPANET, Beta Tested the first Web Browsers, and helped foster AOL at its infancy. Now the new social media is a confusing blur.

Weather Maps

I'm a map junkie. Proof: I buy atlases for fun. Further proof: I play with great maps online, like the maps at Weather.com.

Totally awesome. Powered by Microsoft Virtual Earth (yeah, I'm in love with Google Earth), these babies are more than fun, they are very useful. Give them a try sometime.

Brzezinski: U.S. in danger of 'stampeding' to war with Iran

However ....

Iran leader plays down 'US war'

Wasn't Persia mentioned in the Bible somewhere near the Apocalypse?

Yep. I think the Cold War never went away.

A worthwhile article from Wired. It is notable that Russia and China have been strengthening their military ties and that Russia has resumed patrols of it's nuclear bombers (the U.S. never stopped, by the way).

Can you say "Lynch Mob"?

A soldier convicted for his role in the rape and murder of an Iraqi teenager was sentenced to 110 years in prison, the longest of four soldiers found guilty in the case.

Pfc. Jesse Spielman, who was sentenced Saturday, has the possibility of parole after 10 years. The sentence capped a week of opposing views over Spielman's responsibility in the rape and murder of 14-year-old Abeer Qassim al-Janabi and the slayings of her family (source).

This bastard needs to be turned over to the official Iraqi justice system. Or, better yet, the unofficial one.
