"The Bush administration is waiting for West African troops to be deployed in Liberia before deciding whether to prop up a peacekeeping mission in the turbulent nation, a U.N. official said on Thursday." In other words, we're checking to see if it it in our economic interest.
If the United States is going to play policeman to the world, should it have a double-standard? Why is one nation or region "better" than another when it comes to deciding on which should be embrewed? Yes, Iraq was a bad place with Saddam in charge. Yes, it had a tremendous potential for world harm. But look at the economic issues and tell me that they were not a big factor in the start of the last Gulf War.
I still say that we need to focus our resources on erasing the causes of turmoil. Citizens of the world need to make hard choices. They can either get along with others or go away ... find some place they can be miserable by themselves and leave the rest of us to prosper.
Still working on the solution. How about you? Peace & Prayers.
