A Few Movie Notes

  • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is now in my possession. I look forward to screening it. So far I've looked at the deleted scenes (not enough present) and the "Within A Minute" documentary. I'm only a bit surprised that there weren't more than six deleted scenes, but with the Lucas editing style the movie is fabricated in post as much as it is in production. The case notes say that these scenes were "created just for this release," so I wonder if they were really deleted anyway.
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) is out on DVD, too. Nay, I don't think I'll buy it. Watching it at the IMAX was fabulous, but the 2nd viewing wasn't quite as good even on a fairly big screen in another theatre.
  • I caught part of Ralph Macchio's 1986 movie Crossroads tonight. Excellent soundtrack but the the official album isn't quite what you hear on the screen. Comments at Amazon indicate that the guitar work can be found on Steve Vai's The Elusive Light and Sound album but I can't verify that. It's not on iTunes.
  • Some gift certificates are winging their way to me so the complete Thin Man series will soon find a proud place on my movie shelf.
  • I'm going to have to get around to watching The Musketeer (2001) sometime. Recently acquired for just five bucks new, I figure that was cheaper than seeing it at the movie and I can skip past the parts that bored the critics.
